Vintage Timex 400 series watches are highly collectible. This is because they have a bought-in movements. This time a Seiko-Hatori movement and not a pin plate movement that was featured in more standard Timex watches. Arguably these Seiko movements are more easily serviced by watchmakers not familiar with Timex movements.

on a plain white dial alternating arabic numerals and stick markings have been embossed. The outer edge contains a printed seconds track with lumed pips occurring every 5 seconds. The hands are chrome sword style with lumed centers. The sweep is chromed. Printed on the dial are the words TIMEX,400 and 17 Jewel making these easy to spot.

Pro Tip – When searching for a vintage Timex 400 watch look for one with a clean dial. These dials are prone to getting damaged around the edge and in the center potentially due to water or sweat ingress.

Hi, My name is Mark Rushworth AKA Timetrope on Social Media. Ive been collecting Timex watches for a little over three years. From day one the community of collectors have been very patient and generous for the most part which has kept my interest and engagement in the hobby.

'Ive set up this website partly as a way of cataloging my collection and its many gaps, and as a way of paying forwards the kindness offered to me by Knut, Ian and others (you know who you are).
