Timex Quartz watches and the Q brand was launched in 1972. An evolution of the earlier Electric and Electronic watches, these quartz watches were the first to have a fully integrated quartz movement with no mechanical balance wheel. The name QUARTZ was proudly displayed on the dial of these watches.

Initially Timex Quartz watch designs continued the analog hand design of historic Timex with LCD watches appearing in 1978.
