Manufactured in 1971 and with its reference of 2317, this watch is considered to be a Timex dive watch. This is due to the dial having a 25 metre depth rating and an elapsed time dive bezel. In reality the 2317 is from the vintage Timex Marlin range which can be identified due to the word “waterproof” being printed on the dial. You may have noticed the use of the UK English “metre” not the USA spelling of “meter”. This is likely due to this watch being made from non-US markets. This vintage Timex marlin dive watch is powered by the M25 manual wind movement which has an estimated 24 hour power reserve. The dial is black and features a pink minute track that changes color to orange for the last 15 seconds, potentially to help when timing laps etc. The dial also has a fake day-date complication and only has a working calendar function. The markers and hands are lumed. The hands are simple baton style with lume filled centers. The sweeping second hand is paddle style with a lumed pip. This vintage Timex Marlin dive watch has a press on dive bezel with elapsed time markings. This bezel is friction fit and bi-directional. The case is chrome plated with a stainless steel snap-on case back.

Hi, My name is Mark Rushworth AKA Timetrope on Social Media. Ive been collecting Timex watches for a little over three years. From day one the community of collectors have been very patient and generous for the most part which has kept my interest and engagement in the hobby.

'Ive set up this website partly as a way of cataloging my collection and its many gaps, and as a way of paying forwards the kindness offered to me by Knut, Ian and others (you know who you are).
