Timex Marlin 393091 02575 [1975] Emerson Fittipaldi

Year: 1975
Reference: 393091 02575
Model: Timex Marlin Calendar
Movement: M25
Type: Sports Watch
Name: Emerson Fittipaldi

This vintage Timex watch was part of a set that included 2 electric watches produced to commemorate his consecutive F1 (Formula 1) racing championships wins between 1972 and 1974.

If you search Google images for a Timex Emmerson Fittipaldi watch you will see many using the elapsed time dive style bezel. In my opinion this is incorrect as the sticker, poster and other artwork all depict this watch with a tachometer bezel.

This watch was based on the Timex Rally watch.

This Timex sports watch uses the m25 manual wind movement which has a calendar complication and a 24 hour power reserve. The case is a round edge square shape and is chrome plate over base metal. The crystal is domed acrylic. The dial is black with a distinct chequerboard design running horizontally across its center. A printed second track runs around its edge. Bold lumed roman numerals are present at the 12 and 6 o-click position with the remaining markers being lumed rectangular plots. At the top of the dial and unique to the Emmerson Fittipaldi Timex watches, is a chequered flag followed by the words TIMEX, EMERSON FITTIPALDI WORLD CHAMPION 1972 & 1874. The date window is edged with a printed white border. The bezel contains a tachymeter scale and is not intended to be rotated like a dive bezel. The bezel is made of plastic and is push-fit. The markers are painted. These bezels are very difficult to source in good contition.

Hi, My name is Mark Rushworth AKA Timetrope on Social Media. Ive been collecting Timex watches for a little over three years. From day one the community of collectors have been very patient and generous for the most part which has kept my interest and engagement in the hobby.

'Ive set up this website partly as a way of cataloging my collection and its many gaps, and as a way of paying forwards the kindness offered to me by Knut, Ian and others (you know who you are).
