1960 was a great year for vintage Timex watches. Timex moved away from in-house movements for the first time with the previous acquisition of the movement manufacturer Durow-Laco 2 years earlier. This resulted in the Timex 400 series which used Durowe’s hand wound movements. Bayonet models with the “knife edge” cases evolved with new dial designs and the Darwin range was launched. Oddities such as the one-off Continental watch with its blued hands and Marlins with one piece cases were launched. This makes 1960 a significant year of exploration for Timex.
