1958 Timex Watches
Arguably one of the greatest years for Timex, watches produced in 1958 saw a significant step up in dial design and complication. 1958 is also a year in which many of my favorite vintage Timex watches were produced.
The most notable pieces are the Southampton in white which was Timex’s first chronograph/chronostop watch.
Another favorite is the black dialed Timex Viscount which features radial grooves on the dial and looks like an LP record.
It seems that once every 10 years or so, Timex pivoted and produced new designs. 1958 was a good year!
Timex bought Durow-Laco this year signifying further imminent changes to their movements to come.
