The Timex camper was launched in 1983 and was an interpretation of the military watch produced the year previously.  Using a Dupont case, this in turn was an evolution of the Fun Timer series from 1968 with dial designs evolving from the Timex Sprite range of field style watches. The original camper name refers to a Marlin model but with a plastic case that has fixed lugs.
