Timex Tank Watches

The term tank watch originates with another watch brand, Cartier, who created the iconic piece in 1917. The tank gets its name from its shape which resembles world war one tanks.

Timex tank watches carry on this tradition with several models featuring the small square cases that are typical of this type of timepiece.

The first watches created in the tank style were:

  • 1948: Model E (U.S. Time Saga, Kelton, Tower)
  • 1952 to 1953: Model D
  • 1957 to 1965: Monroe
  • 1960: 100 Extra Thin
  • 1961 to 1966: Super Thin
  • 1968 to 1969: Mercury
  • 1973 to 1975: 100 Series
  • 1976: Cavatina (women’s watch)
